FRENCH AMERICANA
Western Overshirt
Indigo pastel "Métis"
FABRIC
Western Overshirt made in French « Métis » fabric (mix of cotton and linen) giving it a hand that only compares to original 19th century French fabrics it is based on. It is soft and crisp at the same time thanks to the balance and high quality of its cotton and linen fibers. This fabric is woven for the brand in France, using late 19th century industrial looms, reproducing the historic feel and durability known to be characteristic of French vintage workwear garments.
FIT AND CONSTRUCTION
The shirt style is based on the classic Western Overshirt, with a wide body fit, pleated sleeve, slim cuffs, double back pleat and curved hem. It also features beautiful front and back pointed yokes, hand sewn using a silk thread and the signature overlock stitch, two slanted chest pockets and a sharp point collar. It is fully sewn using single needle French seams, giving it strength as well as clean finishing.
TREATMENT
Garment dyed using natural Pastel Indigo (the French variation of the indigo plant). The shirt gets its color through the process of repeated baths, the blue appearing and getting stronger in between baths, by the oxidation of the pigment in contact with oxygen. This process, unique to natural indigo, is very time consuming, taking up to 6 hours of dye time, giving it its unmistakable character and patina.
FINISHING
Handsewn contrasting pearl color silk buttonholes, 9 octogone real mother-of-pearl buttons.
